The Emeriti Association of SUNY Oswego was established in 1989 as an unincorporated organization of retired professional staff members. The Association is governed by an executive committee made up of eight elected members and two ex officio appointed members which include the Emeriti Association Newsletter editor and the Vice President for Development & Alumni Relations.

Statement of Purpose:

The constitution of the Association defines four distinct purposes of the organization:

• To facilitate the SUNY and university policies regarding retired professional staff members;
• To permit retired professional staff members to maintain contact with the institution to which they have devoted a significant portion of their professional lives;
• To provide a setting designed to enhance professional and social relationships between and among retired professional staff members; and
• To provide the university with a pool of experience and talent which may be used at the discretion of the President in the conduct of the institution's affairs.
