How are you using technology in the classroom?
PPT, DVD, Angel, Hybrid Course (HRM 464)
How do you integrate technology into your courses?
The Hybrid course allows me to bridge the gap between the traditional and online parts of the course. Students are given discussion questions on Weds, then "chat" online discussing responses to the questions, and the learning points are clarified on Monday in class. Students also provide one another feedback on papers and projects online as well.
How do you see technology improving learning?
Critical thinking is stressed throughout the online interactions. Facts are challenged, questions raised, conclusions drawn based on the available information.
How have your students responded to your use of technology?
Students love the flexibility of "chatting" whenever they want to. The ability to attach documents or URLs that support their positions is an added plus, and students take full advantage of it!
What does technology add that would not be possible without it?
The volume of interchange that happens online cannot be fitted into the face to face traditional class time allotted.
What new goals do you have for using technology in teaching?
Transform other courses as Hybrids if and only if it enhances learning.
What is your biggest challenge in using technology in the classroom?
Getting everyone to participate equally. Of course, that is a traditional classroom issue as well.
How could the University better facilitate the use of technology in the classroom?
More workshops and show and tell of successful applications.
Are you using technology in any interesting or unique ways?
Not sure if others are doing what I do.
Is there anything in particular that you love (or hate) about technology?
As long as it enhances learning, I love it.
How are you using technology in your daily life?
Cell phones, computer, GPS- how did we live without it?
If you had to pick one technology item that you couldn't live without, what would it be?
Cell phones!
