Record-Setting Year for Laker Volleyball

The Oswego State volleyball team broke four school records during the 2007 season, and compiled a 14-20 overall record during the year.

Junior libero Amanda Cipriano (pictured), from Solvay, broke her own Oswego State record with 38 digs in a match against Utica during the Oswego State Invitational on Oct. 13. She also had 34 digs in a five-game win at St. John Fisher on Sept. 19. Cipriano is also the all-time leader in career digs for the Lakers through three seasons.

Senior outside hitter Heidi Armstrong is now the all-time leader in kills at Oswego State, with 1,403 kills over her four-year career. Senior setter Amanda McManus set the single-season record for assists with 1,137.

Laker spikers suffer straight-set loss to Keuka

The Oswego State volleyball team was looking for its first multi-match win streak of the season in travelling to Keuka College on Wednesday, Oct. 1, but the Lakers could not hold to late leads throughout each set in taking a 25-23, 25-22, 25-23 loss to the host Storm.

Cipriano, Isgro pace Oswego spikers to three-game sweep of Utica

Senior co-captain Amanda Cipriano (Solvay) served for a match-high six aces, while freshman Jessica Isgro (Brockport) added four aces as the Oswego State volleyball team defeated Utica College for the third time this season in a non-conference match on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at Max Ziel Gymnasium.  The Lakers (8-12) posted scores of 25-15, 25-17, 25-17.

Oswego drops final two matches during SUNYAC West pool play

The Oswego State volleyball team had an opportunity to set themselves up with a good finish on the final day of competition at the SUNYAC West Division pool play Saturday, Sept. 20 in Max Ziel Gymnasium.  However, the Lakers dropped their final two matches of the weekend, putting them in fourth place going into next month’s second round of divisional play in Buffalo.

Oswego spikers in third place after day two of SUNYAC West pool play

The Oswego State volleyball team split a pair of matches on the second day of competition at the SUNYAC West Division round robin at Max Ziel Gymnasium in Laker Hall on Friday, Sept. 19, currently standing in third place out of six teams going into the final day of play.

Oswego State to play host to SUNYAC volleyball pool play Thursday-Saturday

Oswego State and will play host to three days of exciting volleyball action when the opening round of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) West division pool play comes to Laker Hall and Max Ziel Gymnasium from Thursday-Saturday, September 18-20.  The event will be the first competition of the year held in Ziel Gym since undergoing renovation and refinishing of the playing surface over the summer.
