Brian Cole, a graduate of Oswego State, returns to his alma mater to coach the Lakers' men's tennis team for the 2008-09 season. Cole's relationship with Oswego spans over a decade. He competed on the men's tennis team during the 1993 and 1994 seasons before injury ended his playing days. Cole finished his first collegiate stint with a bachelor's degree in Broadcasting-Mass Communications in 1997. He returned to the college a few years later in pursuit of a teaching career and obtained a second bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (grades 1-6) with a social studies concentration in 2006.
Cole makes his collegiate coaching debut after serving a year as the boys tennis coach at Oswego High School, where he guided a team with only three returning players to an 8-9 record with an individual qualifying for the Section III state qualifying tournament. Cole has taught in the Oswego City School District since 2006, serving as a substitute at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. He has also served as the boys varsity swimming and diving coach at North Rose-Wolcott High School in Wolcott, NY, where he will begin his first year this fall as an elementary school teacher.
