Playing in their third invitational in four days, the Oswego State golf team put together its best performance of the season with a runner-up finish in their own nine-team Oswego State Fall Invitational on Monday, Sept. 15 at the Oswego Country Club.

The Oswego men’s golf team kept busy over the weekend with back-to-back invitationals and came through with some top individual performance in posting a pair of top five finishes. The Lakers placed third out of 15 teams at the 18-hole Elmira College Invitational on Friday, Sept. 12 at the Elmira Country Club, then played to a fourth-place finish at the two-day Nazareth College/Hobart College Invitational, played Saturday, Sept. 13 at Bristol Harbour Country Club, and Sunday, Sept. 14 at Ravenwood Country Club.

The Oswego State golf team won first place in a field of five teams at the Elmira College Spring Invitational on Monday, held at the Elmira Country Club. The course played to a par-72 at 6,266 yards.

The Oswego State golf team hosted the Laker Spring Invitational this weekend at Oswego Country Club and the host Lakers finished second to St. Lawrence in the final team standings. The first round on Saturday was shortened to nine holes due to inclement weather, but all of the players from six competing teams were able to complete the entire 18-hole second round on Sunday at the par-71 Oswego Country Club layout.

The first day of competition at the Oswego State Spring Invitational was shortened by a severe thunderstorm that moved through the region in the late afternoon. All of the players in the tournament had completed the first nine holes, and those scores applied to the first day totals. The players will complete 18 holes in Sunday’s second round to determine team and individual champions.
