Re: Tuition Assistance and Support Programs
I wanted to take this opportunity to remind all employees about the tuition assistance and support programs that are available on this campus. There are four programs available through negotiating units, as well as one supplemental program made available through the SUNY System. Those programs are as follows:
§ M/C Tuition Reimbursement Program § UUP Tuition Assistance Program § PEF PSTP Voucher Program § NYS & CSEA Partnership Tuition Benefits (formerly LEAP) § SUNY B-140W Tuition Waiver Program
Please refer to the reverse side of this memorandum for application guidelines for each of the above programs.
There are also several financial aid programs available through the Office of Financial Aid. Although most of these programs qualify recipients by income standards, these amounts have been increased substantially over the past few years. I would encourage you to check into these programs as well, but keep in mind that application for most financial aid programs needs to be made well in advance of the semester of study.
GUIDELINES FOR TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS State University of New York at Oswego
M/C Tuition Reimbursement Program Application is made directly to SUNY System Administration. This program reimburses M/C employees 75% of the costs up to a maximum of $1,500 per year. See www.goer.state.ny.us/mc/mctuition.html for instructions.
UUP Tuition Assistance Program Application is made through the Office of Continuing Education in Sheldon Hall, x2270. This program waives full tuition expenses for UUP employees for one course per semester or session. Courses under this program are offered on a space available basis.
Public Service Training Program (PSTP) This program will not be in effect until the pending contract goes into effect. Employees represented by the Public Employees Federation (PEF) may be eligible for one PSTP voucher per semester (one qualifying credit course) at a participating institution. PEF employees may call 1-877-778-7697.
NYS & CSEA Partnership Tuition Benefits (formerly LEAP) Applications are available through the Office of Human Resources, 410 Culkin Hall, or by calling 1-800-253-4332. This year the program provides one tuition benefit, for a maximum of four credits at $181 per credit. See www.nyscseapartnership.org for more information.
SUNY B-140W Tuition Waiver Program Application is made directly through the Provost’s Office, 702 Culkin Hall. Documentation of other tuition support requests/payments is required. This program is used for supplemental support AFTER the full-time employee has sought/received support from other sources. Actual support received varies, but traditionally maximum amounts are 75% for either graduate or undergraduate coursework for the first course and 50% for the second course up to two courses per semester.
NOTE: B-140W funds are available on a “first come—first served” basis. Applications should be filed as soon as possible.
