The Department of Counseling & Psychological Services at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications for a tenure track, Assistant Professor position.
Review Date: Review of applications will begin January 2, 2008 and will continue until the position is filled.
Salary: Commensurate with rank and experience
Date of Appointment: Fall 2009
Description of Responsibilities: Teach graduate classes in a Mental Health Counselor preparation program. Teach counseling core courses such as vocational development, appraisal, group methods, research methods, consultation, counselor orientation, family systems, diversity and multiculturalism, and practicum/internship; scholarly activity; advisement; university and professional service.
Required Qualifications:
- Earned Doctorate in Counselor Education or related field
- demonstrated teaching ability in the fields of mental health and school counseling
- Ability to address issues of diversity in the counseling process
Preferred Qualifications:
- Eligibility for New York State Licensure in Mental Health Counseling
- Mental Health Counseling Experience
- Demonstrated productivity or potential as a teacher/scholar
- Experience or willingness to work with the profession's national standards (CACREP)

Description of Department: The CPS Department is housed within the NCATE-accredited School of Education and prepares graduate level students in one of three programs. The Mental Health Counseling Program prepares students to work in agency settings and leads toward New York State Licensure as a Mental Health Counselor. The Counseling Services Program primarily prepares students to work as school counselors. The School Psychology Program is nationally accredited and trains school psychologists. The CPS Department has a long-standing reputation for developing high caliber professionals in these areas. The CPS department has a long-standing presence on and commitment to the School of Education's Diversity Committee.
