The new Office of Learning Services (OLS) logo was designed by one of our graphic arts students, Minh Le (Class of 2009).

Minh

Minh Le is a transfer student in our Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) and a McNair scholar who will be graduating in May 2009 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design. His recent works have been shown in the student art shows in Tyler Hall Art Gallery at SUNY Oswego. The new OLS shirt design was created in fall of 2007. Minh's influence for the logo was based on his own summer program experience as a student at SUNY Binghamton. Based on that experience, he generated 3 words that describe his feelings towards the being part of the EOP program: family, community, and growth. With these in mind and the help of others, he came up with the idea of a plant growing out of a book reaching for a diploma. The book is symbolic of knowledge (college) and the plant (student) represents the growth one can attain from the book of knowledge to be successful and reach one's goals (diploma).
