ONGOING OPPORTUNITIES

 

The Red Cross Club of SUNY Oswego is currently participating in “Adopt A Platoon.”  This is an initiative in which various items are collected and sent to troops abroad.  If you are interested in donating, please send emails to redcross@oswego.edu or come to 142 Campus Center to see the list.  Items can be dropped off at the Center for Service Learning and Community Service at 142 Campus Center.

 

The Oswego YMCA is looking for volunteers to help with the daycare center Monday thru Fridays 9am to 12pm or 4:30pm to 7:30pm. Time are flexible. If interested please contact Patti Wells, Monday thru Saturday, at 343-1981. Please call between 8:30 and 1:30.

Oswego S.D. Public Library is looking for volunteers for shelf reading at the library. The library needs help shelf reading books in adult and children's areas. Job requires volunteer to arrange books on shelf by either Dewey decimal for non-fiction or alphabetically by the author's last name. As books are reviewed they should also be straightened on the shelves. Volunteers are needed on a flexible basis based on library hours (Mon.-Thurs. 10am-8pm Fri. 10am-5 and Sat. & Sun. 12-5pm). Literacy Volunteers of Oswego County is looking for volunteers to research, plan, and possibly facilitate basic financial and health literacy workshops for adults.  This would be a great project for a Service Learning student or club/organization.  If you are interested in this exciting opportunity, please contact Alyssa at amyotte@oswego.edu

SPECIFIC OPPORTUNITIES WITH DATES

Suny Oswego Red Cross Club is sponsoring a blood drive running Monday, December 1st through Wednesday, December 3rd. It will run from 11:30am-5:30pm in the Hewitt Union Ballroom. If anyone is interested in signing up for an appointment (which is strongly advised) or volunteering any or all of the days of the blood drive, contact Danielle Hand and Stephanie Hallinan at redcross@oswego.edu. Volunteers are also needed to hang up posters around campus, so contact the email address above if you would like to help with that as well!
